Mobile Detailing Tips For Cleaning Your RV

Now that camping season is coming to an end, it’s a great time to treat your RV with a little extra care. In order to keep your RV in the best possible condition, it’s important to periodically deep clean it. All recreational vehicles need regular washing and could use a little extra protection from outside elements. Before storing away your RV for the winter, give it a good clean so it will be ready to go for your next adventure come springtime. Where do you even begin?

Start Early

Cleaning your RV is way more work than cleaning your car, so make sure to give yourself enough time to thoroughly clean every inch of your vehicle.

What You Need

• Wheel and tire cleaners
• Wash and wax solution
• Window washers and squeegees
• Wash brush
• Plenty of sponges
• Paper towels
• All-purpose cleaning solution
• Broom
• Rubber conditioner

Clean The Roof

You might as well get the most laborious task over with, so start by cleaning the roof first, then you can work your way down the vehicle. Grab your broom and use a ladder to climb to the roof. Thoroughly sweep the roof, clearing away any accumulated debris.

If you have a rubber roof, it could be especially difficult to clean, but your local RV dealer may offer a cleaning kit designed just for this type of surface. Usually, they include special cleaning and conditioning products to keep your roof in tip-top shape.

Whatever cleaning product you decide to use, spray it on the roof and let it sit for a minute. Scrub the roof in a circular motion using a soft brush. When your entire roof has been scrubbed down, spray off the soap with a hose. Follow up by spraying a non-abrasive rubber conditioner on your roof and scrubbing it with a soft brush. Make sure to not use abrasive conditioners or citrus conditioners, which could break down the rubber.

Wash and Wax the Exterior

Here at Mobile Detailing Pros, we use eco-friendly wash and wax products, so we encourage you to do the same. Luckily, plenty of effective wash and wax combo products are eco-friendly and still effectively clean your vehicle. Simply follow the instructions on the back of the bottle and you’re good to go.

Don’t be surprised if the interior of your RV needs a little freshening up. Start by opening up all your windows to ventilate your vehicle. Remove the window screens and spray them down with a hose.Spray some all-purpose cleaner on a paper towel and scrub down the interior of the vent and the vent cover. Use the same steps to clean the air conditioner. Wipe down the ceilings and remove any lurking cobwebs if needed.

Scrub your sink thoroughly with a brush or rag and some all-purpose cleaner. Make sure to wipe down the shower as well.

Now for the fun part: cleaning your toilet and tank. Scrub your toilet just as you would if it were in your home. Next, drop an environmentally-friendly deodorizer and cleaning packet into the black tank. You’ll need to have enough water in the tank to at least cover the bottom to make this product work. Finally, scrub down the bathroom floor and your RV lavatory should be sparkly clean.

Remove everything inside your cabinets so you can wipe down the interior. Once that’s complete, wipe down the cabinet exterior.

Kitchen Area

Make sure to clean all the areas in your kitchenette, including the sink and countertops. If your vehicle includes a stovetop, make sure to give it a good scrub.

Use a vacuum to clean the floor of your vehicle. Make sure to get into all those little crevices for the area surrounding the water pump and other areas. Follow by mopping your main floor with diluted floor cleaner to make your vehicle sparkle.
